Growth in Twitch audience slows

An overview of Twitch viewers between January 2020 and September 2021.

Twitch has seen strong growth since the coronavirus pandemic began but this has slowed in recent months, according to the latest data from TwitchTracker.

The gaming-oriented streaming platform had an average of 3.1m viewers in April 2021, the highest level ever recorded for the Amazon-owned company. Since then, however, audience numbers have fallen to 2.7m in August and 2.5m in the first week of September.

Although September 2021 has so far been an improvement from the previous year, up 0.3m, this is the slowest rate of growth since COVID-19 began (+15.3%).
