In-app advertising revenue from gaming apps has been in decline since the beginning of the year, according to an AppsFlyer analysis of apps that generate both advertising and purchase revenue.
In-app advertising (IAA) revenue fell by one-fifth (19.9%) between January and February 2020, with this decline continuing in each subsequent month. By August it had declined by one-third (32.9%) from January levels.
While revenue from in-app purchases (IAP) saw a steep drop in February, it has been in continued growth since March. Compared to January, IAP revenue was 30.8% higher in May and 10.3% higher in August.
