Facebook video grows 49% in Latin America but brands struggle to attract viewers

An overview of social video views by country, content creator and genre across Latin America during COVID-19.

The number of views on Facebook video content rose an average of 49% across Latin America during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, according to data from Tubular Labs.

Colombia saw the quickest growth, with views rising 92% year-on-year during the March to May 2020 period, while Peru follows, up 68%.

YouTube views grew slower than Facebook in all six markets, up just 3% in Colombia. Argentina (+21%) and Brazil (+19%) saw the quickest growth and despite Peru's rapid Facebook growth, it saw YouTube views drop 16%.
