Alibaba's COVID rebound pushes international revenue over RMB10bn (US$1.4bn)

A rebound from the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has helped Alibaba's international shopping platforms top RMB10bn (US$1.4bn) in revenue for the first time, according to the latest company reports.

International commerce revenue rose 30.8% year-on-year in Q2 2020, three times quicker than the 10.4% increase seen in the first quarter of the year. This is also the highest rate of growth in almost two years.

Alibaba called out strong growth in Southeast Asia, reporting that Lazada saw orders more than double in Q2 2020. Shoppertainment has become increasingly popular as brands look to engage their audiences.
