Storia.ro, a real estate brand, adapted the Danish concept of 'hygge' to Romanian culture during the COVID-19 lockdown and created a new Romanian word to convey the idea of 'hygge'.

Staying at home might have been fun at the beginning of the pandemic, however soon many people started to feel rather trapped in a house that became insufficient to accommodate all their new needs. Not being able to change the daily lansdcape, moreover overcrowding it with a home office, documents, piles of dishes, made the home space look not so attractive anymore.
