Our situation
Around 310,000 babies are born in Australia every year. Sadly, around 2,200 are stillborn – or six every day.
This rate has not changed in 20 years. It's higher than the national road toll. While not all stillbirths are preventable, many are – and there are measures that can reduce the risk. Despite this, there is a lack of awareness, due to a culture of stigma that surrounds the topic.
