Microsoft: Safe@Home

Microsoft, a technology company, increased awareness of issues of violence against women in South Africa by launching a hackathon to ideate technology-based solutions to the problem.

FleishmanHillard (FH) was tasked with launching the Safe@Home Hackathon South Africa, sponsored by Microsoft.

In 2030, people living in South Africa feel safe and have no fear of crime. They are safe at home, at school, at work and they enjoy active community life free of fear. Women can walk freely in the streets and children can play safely outside. - National Development Plan - Vision 2030.

With fewer than ten years to go until 2030, the increase in gender-based violence has escalated and outside of the COVID-19 pandemic, is being called our second pandemic.
