The country's economy suffered a significant contraction from March 2020, when it operated under widespread lockdown restrictions in response to COVID-19. With businesses, and essentially the country, shutting its proverbial doors, this pandemic caused widespread damage to thousands of businesses. Many filed for bankruptcy protection, and the chances of recovery proved challenging.
