Our situation

COVID-19 introduced unprecedented challenges into the lives of Australians. Many people, perhaps understandably, turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms like drinking.

At the height of the pandemic, as many as 30% of Australians admitted to drinking daily, up from 6% in 2019.

Parents were no exception - almost one in three (29%) admitted to increasing drinking during the pandemic.

As a result, many children were exposed to a home environment during COVID-19 where alcohol was being used as a coping mechanism.
