By the time this article appears, we will be about to enter the so-called 'short campaign': that final sprint into general election 2015. The marathon started back in January – marked awkwardly by Newsnight forcing reporter Emily Maitlis to don running shorts and jog around the country as the politicians launched their campaigns. What this does for their ratings remains to be seen but if Twitter is anything to go by, Newsnight's 'core' vote is sceptical, to say the least.
