Mermaids, a charity supporting transgender youth, assisted parents to support their transgender children in the UK by intercepting Google's algorithm to provide them with supportive resources rather than misleading results.

The internet can be a dangerous place if you're a transgender child. It's filled with media outlets, articles and individuals who constantly have something negative to say about you. But perhaps more terrifying is that the home can be even less safe.

A transgender child is twice as likely to contemplate suicide if their parents don't accept them when they come out.

So the family has much more power than the trolls.

Trouble is, a lot of parents just aren't equipped to handle this life-changing moment.
