Instagram adspend up almost 2x faster than Facebook

An overview of Facebook and Instagram advertising performance in the United States in Q3 2020.

Instagram advertising spend in the US rose by 19% in the third quarter of 2020, according to data from performance marketing agency Tinuiti. This is almost double the rate of increase on the Facebook platform, which rose 11% during the same period.

The Facebook platform alone accounted for three-quarters (76%) of total company advertising revenue in Q3. A quarter (23%) of platform ad impressions were on desktop devices in April – driven by stay-at-home orders – however, mobile app growth means desktop now accounts for just 5% of all Facebook ad impressions.
