Summary

To understand the reality of online media use and information consumption behaviours in the digital health industry, Healthcare Research Worldwide (HRW) partnered with behavioural data technology provider RealityMine to conduct a self-funded pilot for a novel method of understanding the digital behaviour of influencers with rare and invisible medical conditions. The innovative study overcame the limitations of self-report using passive measurement of digital media consumption. It also demonstrated important distinctions with implications for digital research: gaps between behaviour and recollection, and between posting and influencing.
