Google 'bad ads' grew 20% in 2019

An overview of the number of 'bad ads' that Google have removed since 2012.

The number of Google ads that violated the company's policies and were blocked or removed rose 17.4% in 2019, according to the latest company data. Overall, 2.7 billion 'bad ads' were removed in 2019, up from 2.3 billion in 2018.

The company added that there was a nearly 50% decrease in the serving of phishing and 'trick-to-click' ads in 2019. Overall, 35 million phishing and 19 million 'trick-to-click' ads were blocked last year.

Google also suspended nearly one million advertiser accounts and over 1.2 million publisher accounts for violating company policies last year.
