Gaming reach flat or falling across major European markets

An overview of gaming's reach in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak prompted a surge in gaming activity but this appears to have mildly reversed in major European countries, according to data from Comscore.

Across five major European countries, 72.1% of the digital population visited gaming sites and apps in June 2020. While this is an increase from July 2019 (70.4%), gaming's reach fell to 68.1% in July this year.

This decline in gaming content in July is visible across four of the five countries studied. France sees the steepest drop, falling from 71.5% in June 2020 to 56.3% in July.
