Nearly four-in-five of Latin American adults (aged 18+) used WhatsApp in the past week, according to the latest data from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Use of the platform for any purpose was 79.7% across the four countries surveyed. Brazil recorded the highest any purpose penetration at 82.8% while Mexico recorded the lowest at 77.5%. WhatsApp is now the most popular social media platform in Brazil, while Facebook has fallen in popularity.
