Quality pays for the New York Times

Despite President Trump's assertions it is "failing", the New York Times reports it is thriving as digital subscriptions grow and it attracts more international attention.

The newspaper that US President Donald Trump derides as "the failing New York Times" is actually thriving in an era in which quality and trust have become more important to consumers than ever, the dmexco conference in Cologne heard.

According to the company's CEO, Mark Thompson, quality brands are doing well, and not just in the news business – where brands like the Financial Times, The Economist and the Wall Street Journal are also growing – but in a range of other categories.
