Pokémon Go has given people a taste of AR technology which has the potential to transform the retail experience.

Augmented reality and other advances that link the physical and the digital worlds will transform the way people live, and generate incredible potential for retailers to build closeness to their customers, according to senior Google executive Greg Jones.

Speaking at the Shoptalk Europe conference (Copenhagen, October 2017), the internet giant's director of AR/VR pointed out that there would be close to one billion AR-ready smartphones in circulation by the end of 2018, and we'd soon wonder how we ever managed without it.
