Sport sponsorship grew by just 3% in Singapore last year, compared to 11% in non-sport sponsorship. That statistic, revealed by Sport Singapore CEO Lim Teck Yin in his welcome address to Sports Matters, held in Singapore in September 2014, points to a lack of overall industry investment within the relatively immature Asia market.

The figure was picked up in a later panel session by Marc Davies, senior sponsorship manager at Standard Chartered, who argued that there needed to be greater investment in the infrastructure...
