- As it is in the USA, BIPOC individuals in creative industries in Canada are largely early on in their careers (56%) and are under-represented at top levels (10%); 78% have no mentor or sponsor at their place of work.
- This leads to alienation and forced assimilation, with 87% saying they “must be on guard just to make it through the workday in peace.” Microaggressions and other demeaning treatment are rampant: 83% of BIPOC have experienced a microaggression, 56% racial discrimination, and 33% have had to deal with racial harassment.
