Print newspaper advertising expenditure in the UK has more than halved over the past eight years, according to the latest data from the Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report, which has surveyed the UK's press each quarter since 1982.
Full-year estimates based on the latest verified data (Q3 2018) show national print newspaper adspend will have fallen 53.7% between 2011 and 2018 to £699m, while this drop was larger at 59.5% to £585m for regional print news. This is despite nine out of ten UK adults being reached by newsbrands each month.
