BVOD takes a 6% share of TV advertising in Europe

An overview of the linear TV and BVOD advertising revenue of 13 of Europe's largest broadcasters.

Broadcaster video-on-demand (BVOD) accounts for just 6.0% of TV advertising revenue across 13 of Europe's largest broadcasters, according to data from Ampere Analysis and the European Audiovisual Observatory.

ITV is the largest broadcaster analysed when incorporating linear and BVOD advertising revenue, at €1,753m in 2020. BVOD advertising proves particularly relevant, taking a one-fifth (19.4%) share last year.

The latest official data of UK advertising spend, measured by the Advertising Association and WARC, puts BVOD's market share in the UK at double the European rate, at 12.0%.
