Special Delivery: How UPS PR helped the company staff up to handle a crucial holiday season

UPS, a postal service, created a two-month campaign using local hiring events and a national press release to encourage applications for its temporary, seasonal roles in the US.

The Opportunity:

The holiday delivery rush – "Peak Season" in UPS parlance – is the most critical time of year for the company and for the millions of businesses and consumers who rely on its deliveries. From November through January, UPS's daily package volume nearly doubles from its average of 20 million packages per day.

UPS couldn't handle Peak Season without a major expansion of its workforce. The company determined it needed to hire about 100,000 seasonal employees in 2019 –enough to populate a city the size of Albany, NY.
