Pinterest, a social network, launched a global communications campaign to spread awareness about its commitment to ensuring all information on the platforms is accurate and climate-conscious, to position itself as a trusted online space and to encourage other social media platforms to take similar steps to combat climate misinformation.

For more than a decade, Pinterest has been a hub for inspiring ideas and trusted information. But the world has changed dramatically since 2009 and, like most social networks, Pinterest had found itself in a battle with misinformation.

In 2022, Pinterest recognized the rapid increase of climate change misinformation. As a result, last April Pinterest expanded its general misinformation policies, first launched in 2017, to explicitly ban climate change misinformation on the platform.
