Hari Bersih Indonesia, Indonesia's national clean-up day, raised awareness of the plastic waste produced by Indonesia and sought to encourage a change in people's behaviour regarding the disposal of plastic waste.

Objective

Indonesia produces 3.2 million tons of plastic waste a year. This plastic waste ends up in the rivers and seas, where they will last for more than 400 years, causing unthinkable damage to the country's biodiversity and marine life.

Our objective was to:

  1. Educate people about the problem of plastic waste and plastic marine pollution;
  2. Encourage change in people's behaviour regarding how they manage their plastic waste;
  3. Gather volunteers for Hari Bersih Indonesia, for the clean-up exercise across the country;
