New Zealand Human Rights Commission: Give Nothing to Racism

New Zealand Human Rights Commission (HRC), a human rights institution, highlighted the racism in the country by launching an online platform asking people to stop dismissing casual racism.

Racism is a problem in New Zealand and it is growing.

1 in 4 complaints to the Human Rights Commission involve some form of racial discrimination.

With the diversity of populations growing rapidly, globally and closer to home we'd seen a rise in racial intolerance and prejudice.

Despite this, many New Zealanders remained unconcerned.

Racial prejudice and intolerance can exist in small, quiet places, in our everyday lives. It is passed on to the next generation with the subtlest of teachings. Left unchallenged it becomes normalised, and allows systems, policies and structures that disadvantage minorities...
