FREESHOP ONLINE (freeshop.com), the American site offering free samples and giveaways, processed its two millionth order last month since launching in December 1994. The site generates leads for marketers who sponsor the freebies. Examples include The Wall Street Journal - a highly respected but hardly mainstream publication - which achieved 20,000 trial subscriptions and Seattle Filmworks which unloaded free 40,000 rolls of film. [There is a deafening silence about the volume of actual sales generated.]
