THE UK’S LEADING online service provider, with a subscriber base circa 400,000, relaunched in June with the aim of making itself more attractive to advertisers. In tandem with Ziff-Davis, its international ad-sales partner, CompuServe is working to develop more ad revenue. With this in mind it has segmented its services into 21 discrete ‘communities’ where, says UK managing director Martin Turner, ‘We will boost advertising by targeting people more specifically into their areas of interest. We have more ‘hits’ than anyone else and will be looking to offer not just banner ads but also sponsorship opportunities.’
