In a move designed to build its co-branded third-party internet access business, Yahoo! has formally teamed with free Internet access provider Spinway. Together the duo will offer free-access internet facilities to marketers – in similar vein to their joint venture for Kmart’s Bluelight.com online service, which has attracted 2.5 million registrations since its launch six months ago.
In another new free service via the Spiegel women's apparel and home furnishings catalog, Spinway will be the preferred dial-up access provider for Yahoo!'s advertisers. Yahoo! will reciprocate with the provision of personalized content for the branded web services, including Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger. Its sales force will also market an unspecified percentage of advertising across the Spinway network.
