The launch of XM Satellite Radio – delayed due to the attacks on the US [WAMN: 21-Sep-01] – went ahead on Tuesday.
Initially available in Dallas and San Diego, the 100-channel, paid-subscription service plans to go nationwide in November. A rival offering is being launched by Sirius Satellite Radio in December.
The two radio groups hope to gain over four million subscribers each in the next four years in order to break even.
