LONDON: Diageo, the maker of Irish beer Guinness, is launching a colour version of its famous black and white brew in a bid to attract new drinkers.

Guinness Red, made with lightly roasted barley to give it its new hue, is being backed by a £3 million ($6m; €4.4m) marketing push following a positive three-month trial earlier this year.

This is the latest manifestation in a notable line of brand extensions which include Guinness with a hint of Marmite - a peculiarly English savoury spread - and Guinness-flavoured bread.
