Adspend on the internet climbed again in October, despite a fall in the amount spent by top brands, according to a survey from AdZone Interactive.

The study, which focused on 1,700 US websites representing 95% of internet ad revenue, noted a rise in spending of 7.9% to $1.7 billion. However, the top ten brands cut back on advertising, lowering their total expenditure by 18.6% to $149.5 million.

The biggest online advertiser was Shop, with adspend at $23.4m. The three most popular websites with advertisers remained, and Ad income for the top ten websites was estimated at $339.4m, the highest total since June.
