WPP Group is trying to build an international network of digital agencies from an assortment of British assets.

The ad giant is rebranding a number of UK digital shops as the GT Network and hopes to export the business to other markets.

At the core of the new network is Good Technology, an agency WPP acquired as part of its purchase of Tempus Group in 2001. This will be joined by WPP siblings Incline and XM London (formerly known as Bates Interactive), both of which will add the prefix GT to their titles.

GT's founder and chairman Richard Davies believes the new unit can grow into a major international player. "The network is born out of the need to be more flexible and competitive without compromising our core skills," he commented.
