THE FRENZIED RUSH to exploit Christmas online was joined both by high street chain Woolworths and home shopping group Littlewoods. Woolworths site launched on 1 De-cember offers a range of around 350 items including CDs and toys. 'This site is particularly for the Christmas period', said a Woolies spoke, 'but we will be extending it to offer a full range of products for next year.' Along with many other online retailers, Woolworths believes this Christmas will prove a watershed for e-commerce. Littlewoods, which has had an online presence for some time, has revamped its site to celebrate the birth of Christ by offering up to 7,000 product lines.
