There are now 2.1 billion web pages publicly available on the internet, according to Sizing the Internet, the latest survey by US internet analysis company Cyveillance.
This estimates that the internet is expanding at the mind-boggling rate of seven million new pages daily and is on course to reach a total of 4bn pages by 2001.
The average page size is 10.1 kilobytes and the average number of external links 5.6. Over 85% of all web pages originate from the USA.
