The European Sponsorship Monitor has revealed that Europe’s biggest sponsors in the first six months of this year were internet companies.

The study by Sponsorship Research International found that the two largest deals were made by, for the 2002 Olympics, and PSINet, for this year’s Euro2000 football championships.

Overall, 13% of all sponsorship deals were made with internet companies, with each deal worth on average $2.4 million.
