Ed Vick is stepping down as chairman-ceo of Young & Rubicam Advertising and retiring from the agency after nine years in various executive roles, effective November 1.
Vick declared: “[I am] to begin a new chapter in my life. I think we have accomplished a tremendous amount during my time here, and I’m proud to have been part of it.”
He will be replaced by Michael Dolan, chairman-ceo of the network’s parent, WPP-owned Young & Rubicam Group, which includes direct marketing shop Wunderman as well as numerous diversified agencies.
Dolan, who is to step down from the WPP board of directors to concentrate on affairs at his new post, will receive help from Y&R’s chairman emeritus Peter Georgescu.
One of Dolan’s chief priorities is to strengthen ties with Wunderman, in order to “energize the long-standing relationship between the two companies,” he said in an internal memo.
