The Vodafone/Verizon Communications joint venture Verizon Wireless yesterday announced that the Bozell Group in New York is to become the lead agency on its $300 million account.

The award came without a review following Bozell’s creation of a campaign for the wireless giant’s launch in April, having handled the account for Bell Atlantic Mobile (purchased by Verizon) for five years.

Media duties stay at the New York offices of Draft Worldwide and Zenith Media, while other shops handle Verizon Wireless’ retail accounts in the Northeast, South Central and Southwest regions.
