Telecoms giant Verizon Wireless yesterday announced it had awarded its $50 million Northeast retail account to Interpublic’s New York shop Hill, Holiday, Connors, Cosmopoulos.

Although Verizon declined to reveal the unsuccesful finalists, they are believed to be New York-based Lowe Lintas & Partners and Berenter Greenhouse & Webster, also in New York. Berenter is part of True North’s Bozell Group which had previously handled much of the account and continues to be responsible for Verizon’s national brand advertising.
