The American assets of trade publisher Miller Freeman, a subsidiary of Britain's United News & Media, are about to be acquired by Holland’s increasingly hungry publishing giant VNU. The sum on the table is said to be $650 million (693.3m) in cash.
However, a last minute improved offer from rival bidder Penton Media is not ruled out by industry observers.
Miller Freeman’s US stable comprises several trade publications and trade conferences, while VNU’s American portfolio includes entertainment trade magazines Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter.
