Miami-based travel site, specialising in Latin American content, has extended its service to three additional countries: Argentina, Brazil and Chile.

It will not only offer travel products and information from its own retail travel agencies, but also via alliances with Brazil’s Business Travelers Group, Turismo Tajamar in Chile and Cityservice in Argentina.

Viajo also unveiled two new strategic partnerships, respectively with sports portal SportsYA! and Mexico-based general interest portal The latter will enable Viajo to offer its 250,000-plus registered users travel information and products, whilst the former will provide a co-branded travel and information service for major sporting events such as the World Cup and the Olympic Games.

Viajo also announced $31 million in capital investments from GP Investimentos, Chase Capital Partners, Thomas H. Lee Putnam Internet Partners, Morgan Stanley, GE Capital, and SLI Investments. The cash will be used to expand the company’s services in the US and Spain.
