US WEB BROADCAST PORTAL CLICKS ON SCOTLAND

News, 27 July 2000

BroadcastEurope.com, the Portland (Oregon) headquartered internet portal, is poised to set-up its European operations in Glasgow, Scotland, following a deal with Scottish Radio Holdings.

The agreement with SRH will result in the live streaming of broadcasts from a number of Scottish and Northern Ireland radio stations including Clyde 1, Forth FM, Downtown and Cool FM. The deal follows a similar partnership with London’s Ritz 1035AM and Atlantic 252 in Dublin.

According to BroadcastEurope’s 56-year-old Scots-born co-founder, Alex Lauchlan: "Glasgow has taken a lead position in the race to establish a European headquarters. We've invested heavily in an engineering system in Britain to carry the entire output of these great stations across the globe."

Further expansion is intended in Europe, Asia and South America.
