Stateside radio ad revenues leapt 10% year-on-year in the third quarter, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau.
The growth was fuelled by a 17% surge in national advertising, while local stations posted an 8% rise.
Of the quarter’s three months, September saw the fastest growth, with advertising climbing 17% – the highest rise since May 2000.
Radio ad revenues are up 4% for the year to date, and look set to finish the year up 5% to 6%.
“Right now, radio looks to continue to exceed expectations,” declared RAB president Gary Fries, “and the next two quarters are shaping up for sustained health in the industry.”
