US durable goods orders grew rapidly in February, according to new Commerce Department figures.

Orders for goods designed to last more than three years climbed 2.5% last month, following a revised 2.7% decline in January. Transportation orders led the way with a 9.9% rise.

Non-military orders excluding aircraft -- a guide to business investment -- increased 1.1% in February, after a 0.3% drop the month before.
