US household wealth set a new record in the fourth quarter, according to new figures from the Federal Reserve.

The aggregated worth of America's households rose to $44.41 trillion ($36.43tn; £24.42tn) in Q4, beating the previous zenith of $43.58tn in Q1 2000. The figures have not been altered to account for inflation

The recent surge in household wealth is attributed to the stock market recovery and rapidly rising house prices.
