Upfront advertising sales for US cable television channels have risen by 5% over the previous season.

Latest figures released by the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau show upfront revenues for the 2005/2006 season hit $6.5 billion (€5.31bn; £3.6bn).

Despite, the increase, the numbers are not up to Wall Street expectations, which had forecast the cable industry's upfront sales at around $7bn.
