A new initiative to promote diversity in the US advertising and communications industry has been unveiled by the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

The document, called Principles and Best Practices for Diversity and Inclusion in Advertising Agencies, has been issued under the auspices of the AAAA's Operation Success. It was set up last year to encourage more ethnic minority workers into the industry and to ensure they stay.

Says AAAA president and ceo O Burtch Drake: "These principles and best practices provide ... member agencies with a roadmap to fostering workplace and supplier diversity programs. I encourage agency leadership to implement the principles and best practices that apply to their agency's specific needs."
