UNILEVER TO SPLIT INTO SEPARATE FOOD AND HOUSEHOLD PRODUCT BUSINESSES

News, 03 August 2000

Anglo-Dutch fmcg colossus Unilever will today disclose details of a major restructuring of its business into two separate elements – foods and household products.

The revamp is the result of a five-month review of the way in which the conglomerate is run and today’s announcement coincides with the publication of Unilever’s second-quarter trading figures.

For some while there has been speculation in the fevered hothouses of Wall Street and London EC2 that Unilever will eventually demerge its two core business operations. Today’s announcement will do nothing to quell this.
