The chief executive of Britain's largest newspaper group Trinity Mirror is to step down.

Philip Graf, who has filled the position since the 1999 merger of Mirror Group and Trinity (where he was also ceo), will leave next summer. No reason for his departure was given.

“I feel the foundations we have laid have created a strong platform for growth,” said Graf, “and I feel that this period of notice will enable an orderly succession to take place.”

A subcommittee chaired by chairman Sir Victor Blank will seek a successor.
