LONDON: The governing body of UK soccer, the Football Association, will next month auction broadcast rights for the annual FA Cup domestic tournament and the England team's international matches.

The FA expects the winning bid to exceed the current £80 million-a-year ($155m; €119m) deal and to generate more than £400m in the four years after summer 2008.

Comments Chris Hayward, head of broadcast at Zenith Optimedia: "Essentially, these are the only major set of sports rights that are coming to the market in 2007 and, combined with the England property, the FA Cup games deliver audiences that even entertainment shows struggle to deliver on a consistent basis."
